The finished UFO for CQ for Newbies

It was over a year ago that we started the UFO RR in CQ for Newbies.  I sent my ugly block out to see what could be done with it.  I'd say these ladies performed a miracle.  It came back as a beautiful and fun mardi gras block.  As usual, it sat around collecting dust until one day I saw it and was inspired to finish it off.

Here is the original UFO.

This is the block after the ladies finished stitching.

This is the finished block.  I had some metallic gold fabric which I used for the frame.  Then added some extras to finish it off.  Come to Mardi Gras!!!

The CQJP block for June

The stitch for this month was the chain stitch.  I find that by doing a whole block in mostly only one stitch, I'm really becoming more "at home" with each stitch.

CQJP block for May

I had fun with the fern stitch for the month of May.
Thinking about the chain stitch for June.

The block for March

Moving right along - here's the block for March.  This one features the cretan stitch.  I'm getting most of my ideas from The Magic of Crazy Quilting by J. Marsha Michler.

February block for CQJP2014

It's only about the middle of April and I have finished my February block.  This one is mostly buttonhole stitches.  January was herringbone.  I'm trying to do a different stitch on each block, but I've had to add a few others for interest.  Beads help also.  I'm not a big fan of ribbon and lace, but I may add some of that before I'm done.

CQJP2014 January

I'm only a couple months late, but I finally finished my block for January.
