For Sept. I chose the fishbone stitch. It has always fascinated me, but I could never get it right. Some people can do them so all matches and both sides are even. By time I finished the whole block, it was starting to work for me, but it's still not my favorite stitch. For August I chose the coral stitch. This is one stitch that I've always tried to make harder than it really is. After filling in the whole block with it, I think I finally may have gotten the hang of it. Still not my favorite stitch though.
I sent my ugly block out to see what could be done with it. I'd say these ladies performed a miracle. It came back as a beautiful and fun mardi gras block. As usual, it sat around collecting dust until one day I saw it and was inspired to finish it off.

This is the finished block. I had some metallic gold fabric which I used for the frame. Then added some extras to finish it off. Come to Mardi Gras!!!

The stitch for this month was the chain stitch. I find that by doing a whole block in mostly only one stitch, I'm really becoming more "at home" with each stitch.
Moving right along - here's the block for March. This one features the cretan stitch. I'm getting most of my ideas from The Magic of Crazy Quilting by J. Marsha Michler.
It's only about the middle of April and I have finished my February block. This one is mostly buttonhole stitches. January was herringbone. I'm trying to do a different stitch on each block, but I've had to add a few others for interest. Beads help also. I'm not a big fan of ribbon and lace, but I may add some of that before I'm done.
I was the last one to work on it so here is the finished block.
Each person in the RR picked out a block which they had pieced and maybe started and then put aside to collect dust. The last one I worked on belonged to lesa, our group owner.
Theresa and I offered to stitch on new blocks if they were interested. They were and, we did. Theresa started on Ritva's block and mailed it on to me. I just finished my work and am ready to send it to Margreet. Here's the picture as it looks now. I hope there's enough room left for Margreet to work on.
This is gray/grey. I did a grey study challenge for CQI a couple of years ago and had collected gray things for that, so naturally I signed up for this one.
I have had 2 other blogs before, but due to multitudes of email addresses and passwords I can't get in to post to my last blog. The above link goes to that blog and I will attempt to continue on with this blog. Wish me luck (I seem to be needing it big time).
